Facilities Maintenance Specialist
Job Summary
Perform minor mechanical & electrical work, office/facility support and maintenance for multiple locations. Keep facility and office systems in top operation capability, repair and correct current problems with minimal downtime and inconvenience.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
- Support a comprehensive Maintenance department including but not limited to maintaining 5S system, cost reducing measures, and continuous improvements.
- Participate and assist in the development and successful implementation of a preventive maintenance plan including with assisting the PE’s writing job instructions and procedures as needed.
- Regularly inspecting and maintaining production support equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Diagnosing and repairing minor mechanical, minor electrical, or plumbing issues that arise in with facility/office environment.
- Maintaining and troubleshooting heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems to ensure a comfortable and safe working environment for employees.
- Identifying and addressing energy efficiency opportunities.
- Conducting routine inspections and repairs of the facility's physical structure, including roofing, flooring, walls, cameras, and doors.
- Coordinating with external contractors for major repairs or renovations.
- Ensuring compliance with safety regulations and implementing safety protocols to create a secure working environment for employees.
- Conducting regular safety inspections and addressing any identified hazards.
- Assist in keeping track of spare parts, tools, and equipment inventory to ensure availability when needed.
- Reordering supplies as necessary to maintain stock levels.
- Maintaining accurate records of maintenance activities, including repairs, inspections, and preventive maintenance schedules.
- Collaborating with production and engineering teams to schedule maintenance activities during planned downtime.
- Communicating effectively with other departments to address maintenance-related issues and coordinate efforts.
- Execute a preventative maintenance program for all the facility support processes.
- Support Process Engineer & Maintenance Specialists with any production/process’s issues if needed.
- Obtain quotes and write purchase requisitions to obtain needed goods.
- Subject to being called after hours. Must be able aid as needed.
- Work with vendors to improve the current systems.
- Maintain and organize supply/storage location\s.
- Support all new equipment using best practices provided by the supplier/manufacturer.
- This position is also required to perform other related duties as assigned by the department manager or president.
Skills/Abilities
- Must have troubleshooting experience of facility/office equipment.
- Working knowledge of HVAC controls and other facility maintenance tasks is preferred.
- Experience with aerial lifts and working at heights and knowledge of Lock Out/Tag Out programs.
- On Call capability, to support fixing equipment with possible notice of less than 2 hours.
- Must have a valid driver’s license to operate company vehicles.
- Microsoft office experience is a plus.
- Must be able to stand for most of an 8 to 12 hour day as well as work in a manufacturing environment consisting of heat, dust, oil and dirt.
- Must be able to lift greater than 50 lbs.
- Excellent attendance is required.
- Forklift experience is preferred.
Education & Experience Requirements
Must possess a high school diploma. Have 2 -5 years of facilities maintenance experience within factory/office atmosphere or equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred. Have mechanical experience in working on forklifts, air compressors, vacuum pumps, HVAC equipment and dust collectors is a plus.
